I haven't posted anything for a little while now, and I'm sitting here at work trying not to fall asleep so why not post a story or two? Helps that my boss is gone today and I've already finished my work for the day. Anyway, this happened a week or two ago.
Jer and I were hanging out at the house one night, not doing anything. I was sitting on the couch upstairs in the sun room watching something on TV. Jer was in the kitchen and I watched her as she went downstairs. After an hour or so I began to wonder if everything was alright. So I went to go find her. Part of me was curious if she was feeling okay, another part was wondering if I had done something to make her upset. Happens sometimes. With our personalities we tend to go be by ourselves when we get upset. After waiting for a little while I went to go see if I could find out what I did or said.
I called the puppies with me and we all headed downstairs to find Jer. I take the puppies for two reasons. One is because they help me find which room she is in. That's a game we love to play with the dogs, it's pretty funny to hide and watch them try to find you. The other reason is because if she is mad at me then the puppies kind of act as a buffer when I go in to find out what's bothering her. :)
The puppies and I get downstairs and I don't see any lights on. Now I'm guessing she is in bed taking a nap, but I take the dogs with me to search all the other rooms first. Jer sometimes likes to hide and try to scare me. Hence the habit of bringing the puppies along with me. We look around and can't find her so now I'm headed to the bedroom. Just as I round the corner, Jer pops out from the bedroom and kinda yells to scare me. She sticks her hands up into "scary position", I can't think of anyway else to describe it. You know, the "I'm going to get you" sort of pose you do to kids as you are creeping slowly up to them? I think you get the point. If not, ask me next time I see you and I'll show you.
At this point I was not prepared for her to jump out at me, since the bedroom was the only room left and the chances are usually pretty high that she was asleep in bed. Good news is, I have some pretty good reflexes. Bad news is, I have some pretty good reflexes. Sorry honey. :)
With one hand I sort of knocked her hands down and with the other I popped her in the mouth. Not a hard shot, I did my best to stop my actions as soon as I realized it was her. I felt pretty bad about hitting her, but I couldn't stop laughing about it. I'm laughing right now actually. She just looks at me with that "I can't believe you did that" look on her face. I tried to not laugh as I apologized and checked her lip to make sure she was okay.
Maybe Jer will get on and tell her side of this, maybe not. Either way, I have learned that I need to train my puppies a little better. My next trick is to get them to scout out the rooms ahead of me, instead of with me...
