I am slowly approaching the age of *deep breath* thirty. What a weird thought. Thirty. T-H-I-R-T-Y. Wow. It doesn't really bother me that much, but it does make me think a little bit. The most depressing thought of all, next to the thought that I'll probably be 70 by the time my kids reach college, is the thought of work. I came to realize something last week that really disturbs me. If I work until the normal retirement age of 65, that means I have 35 more years of being at work. I have not even been alive that long! There is something so wrong with that to me.
Not that I don't believe in working, don't get me wrong. I think the big thing is that I don't want to be stuck doing the same thing for the next 35 years of my life, and then not be able to enjoy myself because I might break a hip. I have managed to take one small step towards my goal of retiring as soon as possible though, and that is taking a new job! I still grin thinking about it, I have been wanting to get out of my current work since I graduated college back in '04. And Jer is happy becuase it takes a little pressure of her and working full time. I really want to be able to have her home with the kids when that time comes and not have to worry about money. I made her a promise I intend to keep. :)
The two best parts of this new job are that I will make about 10K more a year to start, and that with the work schedule, I get every other Friday off. I love that! Hopefully I enjoy what I will be doing, that's the only catch. I start on the 21st of this month, so we'll see what I have to say then. It was fun trying to pick a start date with them, since I am going to Jamaica the first week of May. But luckily they had no problem with having me work my first two weeks and then leave for a week vacation.
Other than the new job, and my turning 30, Jer had her birthday on Sunday. So for the next 5 days or so she is only 3 years behind me. I love her so much, she defintely keeps me feeling young and happy. We had a good weekend together to usher in her 26th year. We went to the temple on Saturday, and then went to Real Salt Lake soccer game and dinner with her sister and two of her kids.
The morning of Jer's birthday we woke up to the dogs aroun 5 or 6 in the morning, and I decided it was time to sing to her. I did my best to get the dogs to join in. Moose just snuggled up to Jer and Sadie gave her some birthday kisses, which was nice. I joined in and gave her some birthday kisses too. I love my little family...

Kim thinks there is an outside chance this is a joke, keeping with the spirit of the day and all. However, I will assume this news is legit. Way to go Beej! So what are the details of the job anyway?
Yay BJ! Happy new job! AND Happy 10k raise!!! THIRTY is OLD. Good thing I am only 28. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Congrats on your new job. However, my comment is not about that. I am requesting a movie review section on your blog. Since you watch so many movies, I would like to be able to see a review online so I don't have to call you before I see a movie.
