It's a boy! Wait...what?

For those that haven't heard, it's true. Our little girl that we have been expecting for the past 7 months or so turned out to be a boy. Guess that's what we get for trusting our ultrasound tech when she says she's 95% sure our baby is a girl. Needless to say, next time around we will make sure that percentage is a little higher. Or get another ultrasound instead of just one.

It all started last Tuesday, the 16th. We went to the doctor for a check-up, since Jer was now 2 days overdue. Jer's blood pressure was a little high so the doctor decided to induce her now rather than wait a few more days and end up with her having more serious issues. So we went to Wendy's for lunch, grabbed our stuff and dropped the puppies of at grandma's. We got to the hospital around 1 pm and they induced her around 1:30. We kicked it in our suite for the next few hours, waiting for the doctor to come over once he finished work at his office.

Around 6 pm the doctor came and broke her water, at which point the contractions became a little more real. Fortunately she didn't have to wait too long until she got her epidural, maybe an hour or so. She says that was the worst part. The anesthesiologist had a hard time finding the right spot, but once he did she was fine. Even had a nap. Around 12:30 am they called the doctor back over and the show started. I'll leave it at that. I got a little queasy but managed to say nothing about it and remain on my feet the whole time.

Jer only had to push about half an hour and then our baby came out into the world. The whole time we are all saying things like "There's her head" or "She's almost here". Once the baby came out the doctor said "Here she is!" and then one of the nurses happened to notice something the rest of us missed. She yelled "It's a boy!"

At that point the whole room was laughing and making comments, one of the nurses outside poked her head in to see what all the commotion was about. We thought it was pretty funny, especially since we've been joking that this would happen. We were all ready for a girl, clothes all hung up or put in drawers, even had a name for her. That took us a good 9 months too, so imagine the fun we've had this last week trying to come up with a boy name that we like.

We made our decision this morning, just in time because the hospital was about to send off all our paperwork with his name as Baby Densley. We joked around with some names, but we finally picked one we like. His name is Trace Bryan Densley. We still put some humor int hat choice because his initials are now T.B.D.

Here are a few pictures of the new addition to our family, we love the little guy! And thanks to all that have called, texted, emailed or come over, we love knowing that we have so much support.

Moose meeting Trace for the first time.

Trace apparently smiling for the camera.

Trace at the hospital, sleeping in his little cart.

Holding my finger while the nurses check him out.

All wrapped up and handed off to dad.

That's so exciting!! What a shock. He's a handsome little boy! Anytime people ask me what we are having, I always respond with, "They say it's a girl", just for this reason. 95% sounds like pretty good odds. Who would've thought? Our tech was pretty sure, but you never know until you see it. Either way though, he's great and you two will be awesome parents!! Congrats!!
