What did you do?!

Genius moment of my life, number 3,965,256,497. Here's how it happened: early last saturday morning, Jer is preparing her group piano lesson for her students, I am awake wandering about the house and notice a sink of dishes. I decide to be a good husband and take care of the dishes. I finish loading the dishes into the dishwasher and grab the nearest bottle of dish soap. It briefly crossed my mind that this soap was not the usual liquid soap that we have put into the dishwasher. But, being the groggy-minded morning person I can sometimes be, I convince myself that it will be fine because I've used this soap in the sink to wash dishes many times. Genius moment 3,965,256,498, I know.

I press start and walk away, thinking that I could go read one of my books to kill some time. After reading for a bit I decide that I need a drink. Walking into the kitchen, I discover this:

My first reaction to this scene is shock. How did I manage to do that? I've done the dishes many times and this never happened before. My mind could not quite grasp what was going on yet. I laughed a bit and then realized that the floor was not only covered in bubbles, but water and I had better do something before it gets worse. Do what? I had no idea so I started yelling for Jer and jumping on the floor to get her attention (she was downstairs on the computer).

At this point my mind starts to slowly realize that to clean up a mess like this, I would need some towels. So I run up to the second floor and grab all the towels I can, all the while still yelling for Jer to come help me. As she comes out of the basement, a load of towels lands on the floor next to her, thrown from the balcony above. Needless to say, I had her attention. After grabbing some more towels I ran back down to the main level and picked up all the towels, then took Jer into the kitchen and pointed at what I had done.

She immediately asks if I used the concentrated dish soap. I hung my head a bit and said yes. Being the good wife she is she just shoke her head and laughed, then got down on the tile and began to help me clean up the mess. I spent the next 10 minutes sitting in front of that dishwasher as I ran a few rinse cycles to get the rest of the bubbles out. Good times. And any day now I will have a baby girl to take care of...

Hopefully changing a diaper is easier than starting the dishwasher. Good story.

This reminds me of a Brady Bunch episode re-run that we just watched last week. Bobby got his suit dirty, and didn't want to get in trouble, so washed it himself (it was a dry-clean-only suit). He put the whole box of soap in the washer with his suit. It filled the whole room with bubbles. I didn't know this could really happen. Thanks for testing it out for us, BJ.
