So, I was asked if I would post some movie reviews on this site. Every now and then I get someone asking me about a particular movie, or if I have any movies that I would recommend. Maybe if I blog about it every now and then it will save a phone call or two. :)
If anyone out there has any review requests, feel free to email me (b_densley@hotmail.com) or respond to a post on this site. I watch a lot of movies and from just about every genre there is, anything from classic oldies to the most recent stuff out there. It can be a chick flick, Disney, Anime, drama, thriller...pretty much anything that I think looks or sounds interesting. If I don't know the show then I can certainly research it, watch it and let you know what I think. I'm always up for finding something new and interesting. Or just entertaining.
It's hard for me to just throw out a list of my top five movies since there are so many different types out there. I'll give you a few favorites and how I would classify them:
Classic movie - Casablanca
Musical - Guys and Dolls
Comedy - Three Amigos
Action - any of the Bourne movies (love the books too)
Drama - Dead Poet's Society
Suspense/Thriller - Vantage Point
Romantic Comedy - Failure to Launch
Sci-Fi - Transformers
Martial Arts - Ong Bak. Tony Jaa will make your mouth drop with the things he can do.
Animated - The Emperor's New Groove
Anime (yes, I think there is a difference between the two categories) - Princess Mononoke
Like I said, not everyone will agree with me or enjoy the recommendations I make. The good thing is you don't have to agree with me for me to like a movie, or for you to enjoy it either! That's the one thing that can drive me crazy, when someone won't go see a movie that may look good to them simply because some critic didn't like it. Yes, sometimes they're right. But I would have missed out on some of my favorite shows if I had just listened to someone's opinion. Feel free to comment on what I have to say, I like to discuss movies and plots. Sometimes you enjoy a movie more if you learn a little about it and see it again. I've changed my opinions before. That said, let me know what you want me to discuss and I'll get to it. Here are some of the recent movies I've watched that I enjoyed:
Never Back Down - PG-13 Mixed martial arts movie. Basic story line of an angry kid that has issues (gets into fights a lot), transfers to a new school, is suckered into going to a party by a girl, gets beat up and embarrassed by the tough guy who thinks he's the greatest thing since Double Stuf Oreos. I love those. Then learns how to do mixed martial arts, meanwhile learns life lessons and how to control himself. Ends with a great match between the new guy and the tough guy. Great action, maybe a little above average on story and acting when it comes to this type of film. Violence, high school kids having parties, not much bad language as far as I can remember, and no nudity. This movie is more about the action than anything, but it does have a decent connection to the main character and his growth.
Juno - PG-13 Great show, very different than what I expected. Extremely clever. It may take a bit to get used to the way it's done, it's a lot like Napoleon Dynamite. The movie follows the life of a very witty teenage girl named Juno that gets pregnant. She decides to give the baby up for adoption and searches for a family for the kid. She goes through the pregnancy, and you see how the situation affects her life and those around her. Adult themed obviously, and very subtle, sarcastic humor. No nudity (that I remember), which is nice, but there is adult language.
Vantage Point - PG-13 It's always fun to see a movie that steps out of the usual cookie-cutter mold. The US President is at a summit and about to speak when he gets shot. The film repeats the same 20 minute sequence of events leading up to and after the shooting, and you are given clues towards solving who did it and why as you progress through the different characters. You follow, one at a time, the lives of about 5 people (can't remember exactly how many) that are involved some way to what happened. If you can adjust to the flow and repetition of events then I think it's worth watching. There is a lot of violence and some language here, but thankfully this movie avoids the seemingly common trend of unnecessary nudity in action or thriller movies.
I've got a list of movies that are just out or coming out that I am excited for, so be expecting a post or two when I am able to catch those. Again, let me know if you have any requests. Old or new, kids show or adult, I'll do my best to let you know what I think or recommend!

Wow, ask and ye shall receive! Thanks BJ. I'll let you know when I have requests (I'll probably still call you).
Hey BJ you computer man... I need some good anti virus software. We had some on here, and then it seemed to make everything slow. Do you have any recommendations? Craig just wants to get a new computer.
